عما يجب أن تبحث؟

أهم شيء يجب مراعاته هو ما اذا كانت "العظام" في حالة جيدة لتُعطى حياة ثانية. للأرائك والكراسي، تأكد من أن الاطارات قوية. باالنسبة للقطع الخشبية كالخزائن والطاولات، بإمكانك تصليح المفصلات والساقين، لكنه يصعب تصليح الشغرات الواسعة. القليل من الصنفرة تكشف عن الماس في الخام!

حدد الوظيفة الجديدة للأثاث

حدد كيف ستتناسب قطعة الأثاث الجديدة: سواء كرفّ كتب أو خزانة أو أريكة مريحة. قد تحتاج الى شراء أقمشة جديدة بعد اتخاذ قرار بشأن الوظيفة الجديدة للأثاث. اسمح لمنزلك أن يخبرك بما  تحتاج اليه، ثم قم بإنشائه.

شمّر عن سواعدك

من خلال الصنفرة والطلاء الجديد والتلميع، يمكنك اعادة صقل الأثاث الخشبي. حشو الخشب رائع لتغطية ثقوب المسامير القديمة أو تصليح الشغرات.  بإمكانك تصليح المقاعد والألواح الأمامية وكراسي الطعام بنسيج جديد باستخدام دباسة. قد تتطلب المشاريع الأكثر تفصيلاً عمل فني، ويبقى أقل تكلفة من شراء أريكة جديدة.

·         قم بتحسين أريكة جلدية قديمة من خلال طباعة غرافيكية ممتعة لإطلالة عصرية.

·         أعد صقل أدراج الخزانة. صفي جوانبها بورقة جميلة، وقم بتثبيتها على الحائط كأرفف للكتب.

·         قم بطلاء وتلميع طاولتان وضَعهم الى جانب سريرك. حتى لو كانت الطاولتان مختلفتان، فلون الطلاء المشترك سيوحّد المظهر.

·         قم برسم لوحة خزانة قديمة وأضف درج يسحب على كل طرف من للحصول على صينية تقديم جديدة.

·         استبدل الزجاج المكسور الموجود في الفيترين الخاصة بجدتك بأسلاك الدجاج لوحدة تخزين أنيقة.

·         قم بتركيب باب قديم أفقياً على جدار غرفة النوم لصنع لوح خاص كظهر السرير.

·         قم بتغطية خزانة بقطعة من الغرانيت المتبقى أو الرخام لطاولة مطبخ جديدة.

·         قم ندهن بعض إطارات الصور وملئها بقطع قماش قديمة أو مرايل أو فلين.

What to look for

The most important thing to consider is whether the “bones” are in good condition to be given a second life. For sofas, couches, and chairs, make sure the frames are sturdy. For wood pieces like dressers, tables, and armoires, you can repair hinges and legs, but not major cracks. A little sanding and painting can reveal a diamond in the rough!

Define the furniture’s new purpose

Decide how your new piece of furniture fits: whether as a bookshelf, a dresser, or a comfy couch. You might need to shop for new fabric after deciding on the new purpose of the furniture. Allow your home to tell you what it needs and then create it.

Roll up your sleeves

With a sander, new paint, and shellac, you can refinish wood furniture. Wood filler is a great tool for covering up old nail holes or repairing cracks. Benches, headboards, and dining chairs can be updated with a new fabric using a staple gun. More elaborate projects may require the work of a professional, which is still less expensive than buying a new sofa.

Repurposing ideas:

·         Recover a traditional leather sofa with a fun, graphic print for a modern look.

·         Refinish dresser drawers, line their insides with pretty paper, and mount them on the wall for bookshelves.

·         Paint and shellac two old end tables for new night stands. Even if the tables are different, a common paint color will unify the look.

·         Paint an old cabinet panel and add drawer pulls on each end for a new serving tray.

·         Replace the broken glass on your grandmother’s china cabinet with chicken wire for a shabby-chic storage unit.

·         Mount an old door to a bedroom wall (horizontally) for a unique headboard.

·         Cover a dresser or buffet with a slab of remnant granite or marble for a new kitchen island.

·         Paint some picture frames and fill them with old pieces of fabric, aprons or cork. Voila!! Instant art or a corkboard for displaying pictures.
